FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The City of Springfield's October one-percent general sales tax revenue from the Missouri Department of Revenue is up 23.6% compared to the month of October 2013. October 2014 revenue was $3,780,574, an increase of $721,095 over last year’s amount. On a year-to-date basis, the City is up 11% when compared with the same timeframe last year. Actual year-to-date revenue is $14,589,131. These figures represent sales processed by the state in September from transactions made primarily in July and August. Compared to Budget: On a year-to-date basis, the City is 5.2% above budget. Actual year-to-date revenue is $14,589,131 compared to the year-to-date budget of $13,865,065. The City heavily relies on sales tax revenues as its main source of revenue to fund vital services, such as police and fire operations.
