The City of Springfield Department of Workforce Development will be hosting a One-Year Celebration of Missouri Job Center North, 1443 N. Robberson St., on Dec. 19 from 3:30-5 p.m. Located in Zone 1, MJC North has served 5,185 customers in the past year and 104 job seekers have reported finding gainful employment earning more than the minimum wage.
Keynote speakers for the event will include Zone 1 Councilwoman Phyllis Ferguson and Missouri Job Center Director, Mary Ann Rojas. MJC North has partnered with many local companies including Regions Bank for financial literary skills, CoxHealth for health needs, Vocational Rehab Services, OACAC for childcare needs, and Legal Services of Southwest Missouri.
Zone 1 has been the target of the City’s Zone Blitz initiative for the last two years and adding a job center location in that zone has helped reduce the unemployment rate in the area. The City has been adamant at improving the quality of life of all citizens and a successful first year of operation at Missouri Job Center North is an achievement the Department of Workforce Development celebrates.
