FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Commercial Club of Springfield and the Commercial Street Community Improvement District invite the community to come Uptown to Historic Commercial Street on Sunday, Aug. 26 from 2 to 4 p.m. for a district-wide open house. “Sites for Soirées” showcases many party venues Uptown on Historic C-Street. Currently, about a dozen event venues range in size for small showers or birthday parties of 10 guests up to 300 wedding or corporate event guests and every size party in between.
Many of C-Street’s event venues will be open as will surrounding restaurants, many offering catering services, storefronts featuring decor and party furnishings, vintage decor and fashions, gifts and personal service locations. Several lofts which are available as Airbnbs will also be open as they are perfect for family and guests from out of town or a ladies shopping weekend. C-Street design and party-planning professionals will also be available to meet and greet the community. Sites that are open for this special Sunday (also the grand finale of Queen City Shout,) will be marked with color-coded balloons indicating both that they’re open and whether they are a venue, or a party service offering design, decor, gifts, personal services, catering or lodging. Pedal Power Pedicabs will offer free transport between White River Brewing on the west end up to Askinosie Chocolate on the east end from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sites for Soirées guides will also be available at many locations or from Pedicab drivers.
As Gregg Johnson, president of the C-Street CID says, “We want the community to recognize and embrace Historic C-Street as a Celebration Destination, both for all its event venues and for the community of merchants who offer everything anyone could ever need to plan a party of any size.”
Mary Collette, president of Commercial Club concurs, adding “Come Uptown and Celebrate on Historic C-Street, it truly is Springfield’s ‘Site for Soirées.’”
