CHANGE ONE THOUSAND CLASS TO GRADUATE ON FRIDAY

jobcenter

The fifth cohort of Change One Thousand will graduate on Friday, Sept. 28, 2:00 pm, at the Missouri Job Center, 2900 E. Sunshine. Change One Thousand is a skills academy that

teaches participants resume writing, interview skills, proper work etiquette as well as other soft skills, and is taught by instructors from Bryan University.

Over the last 8 days, 19 students have been learning the skills needed to gain confidence and land a great job. Amy Wasmer, a 21-year-old student at Bryan University, is taking the class and says it has made her think of things in new ways. Wasmer is in the Certified Nursing Assistant program at Bryan University and is a participant in the Aspire to Care program sponsored by the Missouri Job Center.

“I really like how the instructor explains things like how productivity in your job can impact your personal life as well,” Wasmer said. Now I know how to write a proper resume and I know what employers are looking for when interviewing, she said.

“Change One Thousand was born out of numerous conversations with companies about workforce trends they were observing in their workforce, said Mary Ann Rojas, Missouri Job Center Director.

The public is invited to attend this free event. For more information, contact Katherine
