Career Connections, a networking event designed to connect local employers with those on the Autism Spectrum, is Tuesday, April 30, from 1-4 pm at the Missouri Job Center, 2900 E. Sunshine in Springfield. All those on the Autism Spectrum who are looking for employment are encouraged to attend.

During the Career Connections event, employers will talk one-on-one with job seekers to find out their skill sets and work experience. Participants will be able to ask questions and get acquainted to see if there is any mutual ground for future employment opportunities.

“We’ll have around 10 employers who will be participating in the event,” said Bill Smillie, business services specialist with the Missouri Job Center. These employers have previously attended a lunch and learn series leading up to this event, to explore ways in which their companies might hire those on the autism spectrum, Smillie said.
