Springfield Police Arrest Second Suspect in Lois St. Shooting
On April 28, 2019, at 11:03 p.m., Springfield police were dispatched to 722 W. Lois after a 911 caller said someone had been shot. When officers arrived, they found a male victim who had been shot several times. The victim was transported to Mercy Hospital where he underwent several surgeries and is still being treated for his injuries.
When officers arrived, they arrested Deandre Walls after a short foot pursuit. Walls was charged by the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office with 1st Degree Assault, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Armed Criminal Action, 1st Degree Burglary and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Walls is being held in the Greene County Jail without bond.
During the ensuing investigation, detectives identified a second suspect as Cortell Scott, a 30-year-old male from Springfield. On Thursday, May 16, 2019, Scott was arrested by Springfield Police officers after a short stand-off at 2150 S. Ingram Mill. The Greene County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges of 1st Degree Assault, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and two counts of Armed Criminal Action on Scott, who is currently being held in the Greene County Jail without bond.
