Missouri Job Center Releases Information on Tentative Reopening to the Public
The Missouri Job Center in Springfield announces a tentative reopening date of Tuesday, May 26, to help job seekers find employment in the wake of COVID-19. The Job Center North will stay closed for now to maximize resources in meeting the employment needs of Ozarkers.
“Before we reopen to the public several adjustments and safety measures will be implemented in our daily operations to protect both Job Center visitors and staff,” said Sally Payne, Interim Director of Workforce Development for the City of Springfield. “Prior to opening our policies and procedures will be reviewed by the Health Department, State of Missouri and the City, to ensure all our safety measures meet the guidelines,” she added.
“Since we share space with the State Department of Workforce Development as well as the Division of Family Services, Rescare and other partners, we will have enhanced signage pointing people to where they need to go,” said Payne. Besides more signage, the Job Center will have floor guides that allow for social distancing while people wait in line. “A couple of other measures include providing plenty of hand sanitizer and wiping down computer stations after each use,” Payne said. “We are reviewing all 40,000 square feet of the building to ensure safety for all,” Payne added.
In the meantime, if you have recently experienced a lay off and need to find employment, please visit www.jobs.mo.gov and click the “job seekers” box. You can search for open jobs from the comfort and safety of your own home.
“While we have been closed to the public, we have maintained contact with many employers to verify open positions within their companies,” said Dennis Wiggins, Business Services Supervisor for the Job Center. “Each Wednesday we are posting on our Facebook page a number of job openings as well as links to the company’s application site,” he added.
