Missouri Job Center Reopening to the Public on May 28

The Missouri Job Center in Springfield will reopen to the public on Thursday, May 28, to help job seekers find training and employment after a record number of lay offs occurred during the Coronavirus pandemic. Through the month of June, the Job Center will operate with reduced hours to the public so staff have time to clean and sanitize each day. The Job Center North will remain closed for now to maximize resources in meeting the employment needs of Ozarks residents.

“Since we are the first Job Center in the state to open back up to the public several adjustments and safety measures have been implemented in our daily operations to protect both Job Center visitors and staff,” said Sally Payne, Interim Director of Workforce Development for the City of Springfield.

Those changes include floor guides that allow for social distancing as well as hand sanitizer, plastic covers on keyboards and plexiglass barriers in high traffic areas. The number of computers available for use has been limited to allow for a six-foot perimeter, and staff will sanitize work stations in between each use,” Payne said.

Occupancy limits have been set to 40 customers at one time. “If we get into a overflow situation, visitors will be asked to wait in their car after they check in until it’s time for them to come inside,” Payne added.

It’s important to note that the Family Support Division, also housed at the Job Center, will not be open to the public at this time. Clients are asked to contact FSD at 1-855 FSD-INFO or email FSD.documents.dss.mo.gov. Job Center staff will not be able to take documents on behalf of FSD.

Hours of operation through the month of June are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4 pm. For more information on the Job Center reopening, please contact Katherine Trombetta at 417-841-3389 or 417-880-6306, [email protected]
