Missouri Job Center Receives CARES Act Funding to Support  Local Workforce Needs

As part of the CARES Act, the Missouri Job Center Ozark Region has received nearly $500,000 to help those searching for work to retrain for a new career. This funding is provided by the state Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development to support Missouri’s workforce in the wake of the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Individuals who meet certain qualifications could receive up to $4,000 paid tuition to go towards training in one of five areas, manufacturing, IT, healthcare, transportation or construction, said Senior Workforce Development Specialist Cody Naeger with the Missouri Job Center. “We work with approved local training providers such as Ozarks Technical Community College, Missouri State University and Midwest Technical Institute who provide a hybrid approach to training,” Naeger said.

“For those who would rather do online training, we partner with MedCerts, ed2go and others to offer full online classes that meet the needs of those who work during the day and need to take classes at their convenience,” he added.

Deadline to enroll in training is October 31, 2020. For more information on how to enroll, contact Cody Naeger at 417-841-3319 or [email protected].
