City's recycling drop-off centers to close through April 1

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

In an effort to control the spread of COVID-19 and in accordance with the recent ordinance prohibiting gatherings of 10 or more, all City of Springfield recycling drop-off centers will close beginning 5 p.m. Thursday, March 19 through April 1.

Facilities included in this closure are the Yardwaste Recycling Center, Lone Pine Avenue Recycling Center, Franklin Avenue Recycling Center and Household Chemical Collection Center.

The Springfield Sanitary Landfill will remain open under normal operating hours.

Citizens are encouraged to contact their trash hauler for information on curbside recycling collection service.

If accumulation or storage of recyclables becomes an issue, these items can be placed in the garbage until recycling service resumes.
