FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Springfield Mayor Ken McClure was moved by today’s show of support by the U.S. Air Force. A B-2 Spirit stealth bomber flew over Springfield on Friday evening to honor medical and health care workers, essential employees and volunteers dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
The black, bat-winged jet was from Whiteman Air Force Base and the flyovers are part of an Air Force-wide effort.
“I was able to watch it and it was very impressive,” McClure said. “At a time like this, symbolism is very important and it served as a powerful reminder of how grateful I am for our all of our workers who are responding to COVID-19. Tonight, I would like to extend prayers for our community and all of those affected by the disease.”
