Mayor Ken McClure offers encouragement, praise in annual State of the City address

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COVID-19 and a power outage early this morning could not keep Mayor Ken McClure from giving his 2020 State of the City address.

The yearly address, which comprised this year’s virtual June Good Morning Springfield! program hosted by the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, was livestreamed from Evangel University’s Crusader Dining Hall and got started about 10 minutes late due to a widespread power outage across Springfield. While the event normally draws several hundred attendees, this year it was held virtually due to COVID-19.

Thanks to Evangel master electrician Donnie Holtgrewe, generator power was connected to cameras and other equipment to make the broadcast possible. City Utilities crews restored full power to Evangel about midway through the program.
