Springfield Mayor Ken McClure Statement

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Springfield Mayor Ken McClure and the Springfield City Council congratulate Branson Mayor Edd Akers and the Branson Board of Aldermen on their passage of a masking ordinance for the City of Branson.

“We congratulate Mayor Akkers and the Board for making the difficult, but correct decision for our region,” McClure said. “We appreciate their efforts, as this step will help us maintain our regional hospital capacity. This decision could very well lead to fewer hospitalizations and saved lives. We applaud you for joining the neighboring City of Forsyth in Taney County and the City of Springfield in the important step of requiring the wearing of masks. The only way that we can control and ultimately defeat this horrible virus is to work together and fight it as a region.”
