City seeking feedback for future of Commercial Street, Forward SGF Comprehensive Plan

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Over the last several months, the City’s Planning and Development Department and Forward SGF consulting team have been working with eight focus groups to organize vision statements, goals and strategies for the Forward SGF Comprehensive Plan. These focus groups were organized around key themes and issues cited by the community during input and visioning workshops held last year.

Each focus group began their work learning what the community identified as significant areas of importance and then brainstormed action-orientated goals and strategies to address them.

This community input serves as a cornerstone of the planning framework and focus group goals and strategies that will be used as the foundation for chapters within the Forward SGF Comprehensive Plan. The complete report for each focus group, along with abbreviated summaries and surveys, are available at forwardsgf.com/pages/engage.

“We are now at a critical point in the planning process where we need the community to weigh in and tell us if they agree and share their priorities for the future of the city, as we take the next steps to draft the next Comprehensive Plan,” said Principal Planner Randall Whitman.

The key areas are:

  • Arts, Culture and Historic Preservation
  • Community Facilities and Infrastructure
  • Community Physical Image
  • Economic Development
  • Health and Well-being
  • Housing and Neighborhoods
  • Parks, Greenways and Natural Resources
  • Transportation and Transit.

View the reports and take the surveys at https://www.forwardsgf.com/pages/engage.

In-person feedback option

Give us a call or drop us an e-mail to schedule a time to discuss your feedback in person. While the Busch Municipal Building is closed, we can socially distance and safely meet at the Forward SGF Planning Studio, 351 N. Boonville.

Contact Randall Whitman at 417-864-2027 or [email protected] to schedule an appointment.

Share feedback about Commercial Street

As part of the Forward SGF Comprehensive Planning process, the City is seeking community input to establish a vision and identify priorities and initiatives to guide Commercial Street for the next five to 20 years. Please take a few minutes to share your feedback with this short survey, which will be open through Dec. 4. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/T8GSRKJ.

“Commercial Street’s last plan was completed in 2006, and the district has seen significant changes since then,” said Senior Planner Olivia Hough. “While the survey has been shared with the merchants, residents and other stakeholders on C-Street, we need input from the entire community. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey, and please share it with others you think may be interested.”
