FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Springfield Fire Department recently completed installation of six specialty smoke detectors for the deaf and hard of hearing thanks to the Lennie Cloud Fund for the Hearing Impaired, a specialty grant fund managed by Community Foundation of the Ozarks.
“These smoke alarms provide a special high-intensity flashing strobe to wake a sleeping person and were installed throughout our community over the past six months, said Heather Parker, fire and life safety educator for the Fire Department. “With each installation, fire safety education was conducted in the home. These efforts would not be possible without the support from grants and our community partners.”
About the fund
The Lennie Cloud Fund for the Hearing Impaired supports one nonprofit agency each year located in the CFO service area which provides programming to assist individuals in the Ozarks who are hearing impaired. Equipment, programming or training to assist hearing impaired individuals are eligible for application. Approximately $500 is available to one agency each year.
