Springfield Fire Department releases 2020 Community Engagement Report

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

2020FireEngagementReportcoverThe Springfield Fire Department went virtual with community engagement in 2020. SFD found new and innovative ways to connect with the community as it became clear that in-person programming would be suspended for an unknown amount of time due to the pandemic.

SFD conducted virtual fire station tours, instruction and education for Boy Scout merit badges, Missouri State University housing resident adviser training and fire safety education for fraternities and sororities. Virtual platforms also allowed us to “visit” preschools, elementary schools, nursing homes, scout troops, churches, neighborhoods and other community organizations. We’re pleased to report that we reached 1,752 community members with these virtual fire and life safety education outreach efforts.
