March 19, 2021 -- Phase 2 vaccine to open March 29; scheduling begins next week

news flash - vaccine update

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department and Jordan Valley Community Health Center will begin scheduling vaccine for individuals in Phase 2 of the state’s COVID-19 vaccination plan on Monday, March 22 for appointments during the week of March 29.

This follows the governor’s announcement that Missouri will activate Phase 2 on Monday, March 29 and Phase 3 on Friday, April 9.

Phase 2 includes disproportionally affected individuals-- with an emphasis on racial/ethnic minorities not otherwise included in Phase 1B -- and those who work in fields that accelerate economic recovery including:

  • Chemical Sector
  • Commercial Facilities Sector (including retail, lodging, real estate and others)
  • Critical Manufacturing Sector
  • Defense Industrial Base Sector
  • Financial Services Sector
  • Food & Agriculture Sector 2 (including restaurant and bar employees)
  • Higher Education
  • Libraries
  • Unsheltered Population

Phase 3 extends vaccine eligibility to all Missouri residents.

What to do now

Today, those interested in vaccine should first complete the Missouri Vaccine Navigator registration and obtain a patient ID. Those who have already registered should have received an email with their patient ID and can call the State of Missouri hotline at 877-435-8411 if they are unable to locate it.

What to do starting Monday

Starting on Monday, individuals in Phase 2 can sign up for a vaccine clinic scheduled on or after March 29. Sign up links can be found at health.springfieldmo.gov/COVIDvaccine. The Missouri Vaccine Navigator patient ID will be required to register. Additional vaccine opportunities will be added frequently.

Currently, our community is vaccinating individuals in Phase 1A-Phase 1B Tier 3. If you are eligible to receive vaccine and haven’t yet been vaccinated, we encourage you to schedule an appointment now at health.springfieldmo.gov/COVIDvaccine. The sooner that we can vaccinate individuals in the current tiers, the sooner we can lift occupancy restrictions and return to a sense of normalcy.

Appointments are being made available regularly through several health care and other partner organizations. Please keep in mind that slots do fill up quickly. If you qualify to receive a vaccine and have any issues with scheduling an appointment, contact the health department’s COVID-19 call center at (417) 874-1211.

Individuals who do not have access to the internet, or who need assistance completing the Missouri Vaccine Navigator or scheduling an appointment can call our call center Monday-Friday, 8 am to 5 pm at 417-874-1211.
