Many opportunities are available this week to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Due to increased disease spread in our community, individuals who have not yet been vaccinated are urged to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
As of Friday, June 18, the seven-day rolling average for new cases was 85 – a 26% increase over the past week. Since January, 95% of positive cases interviewed were not fully vaccinated.
Vaccine is strongly encouraged for all individuals 12 and older -- including those who have previously tested positive for COVID-19. Reinfections are becoming more common, especially as the highly transmissible and more dangerous Delta variant continues to spread. Protection from previous infection cannot solely be relied upon to protect against future reinfection. The reinfection rate among Greene County residents was four times higher in May 2021 compared to January 2021.
Below is a list of opportunities for individuals to receive vaccine for the week of June 21-27:
Monday, June 21
Tuesday, June 22
Wednesday, June 23
Thursday, June 24
Friday, June 25
Saturday, June 26
These opportunities are in addition to the recurring vaccination clinics at Jordan Valley Community Health Center’s Benton Clinic at 618 N. Benton. Jordan Valley is offering walk-in vaccinations for Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., with extended hours on Tuesday from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. COVID-19 vaccines are also available by appointment or walk-in through CoxHealth and Mercy Hospital Springfield.
A list and map of additional opportunities can be found at vaccine417.com or by calling (417) 874-1211.
Individuals may save time by registering for clinics in advance at covidvaccine.mo.gov/navigator. Individuals who pre-register should bring their ID and Vaccine Navigator patient identification number with them to the event. Individuals 12-17 must have parent/guardian consent.
