As the highly contagious and aggressive COVID-19 Delta variant continues to rapidly spread in our community, the Springfield-Greene County Health Department is encouraged that more individuals are seeking vaccine.
In the last week, more than 3,500 Greene County residents were vaccinated against COVID-19. Despite this positive news, more than 60% of Greene County residents remain unvaccinated.
As of Thursday, 173 individuals were being treated for COVID-19 at Springfield hospitals. Currently, the seven-day rolling average for new cases is 127– a 28% increase over the past week.
Everyone 12 and older is strongly encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as possible -- including those who have previously tested positive for COVID-19. The vaccines are safe, effective and help prevent severe illness and hospitalizations.
