Public vaccination opportunities: Week of July 19-25

news flash - vaccine update

COVID-19 spread continues to spike to levels our community hasn’t seen since the height of infections in December and January. Over the past week, 1,505 Greene County residents have tested positive for COVID-19. The seven-day rolling average for new cases is 215 -- a 26% increase over the past week and the highest average since January 11.

Hospitalizations also continue to increase at an alarming rate, especially among young and healthy individuals who are not vaccinated. Currently, 228 individuals are being treated for COVID-19 at Springfield hospitals and 96 are in critical care.

As COVID-19 cases increase, it is vital that individuals seek testing if they have any symptoms of COVID-19. Free testing is available through the Health Department and can be scheduled by calling our COVID-19 call center at (417) 874-1211. Additional information on testing services throughout our community can be found at

While some individuals who are fully vaccinated have still tested positive for COVID-19, their illness is typically mild and rarely requires hospitalization. Unvaccinated individuals are urged to wear a mask and take other precautions while in public. It is strongly recommended that individuals who have previously had a COVID-19 infection get vaccinated to help build protection against the Delta variant.

Below is a list of opportunities for individuals to receive vaccine for the week of July 19-25:

A list of these events and additional opportunities can be found at or by calling (417) 874-1211.

Missouri’s Vaccine Navigator system used to register and pre-schedule individuals for appointments has been phased out due to the significant increase in vaccine access. Individuals may walk-in to any clinic listed to receive vaccine. Neither an appointment nor pre-registration are required.

Businesses and organizations interested in hosting a one-time or recurring COVID-19 vaccination clinic should contact the Health Department’s Outreach Team at [email protected] or call 417-874-1211 for more information.
