Pickwick Avenue closed at Madison Street July 28-30 for stormwater pipe installation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Pickwick Avenue is closed at Madison Street through 3 p.m., July 30 for the installation of stormwater infrastructure related to the Fremont, Belmont and Madison Street Drainage Improvement Project. The intersection will reopen to one lane of traffic during evening hours.

Residents located north of the Madison and Pickwick intersection can access their residences from Cherry Street or from Monroe Street. Residents south of the intersection can access their properties from Grand Street or Lombard Street.

The Fremont, Belmont and Madison Street Drainage Improvement Project is aimed at reducing flooding in the Rountree Neighborhood through the installation of an underground stormwater system beginning at the intersection of Belmont Street and Rogers Avenue, continuing along Belmont Street to Fremont Avenue, from Fremont Avenue to Madison Street, and ending at the intersection of Madison Street and Weller Avenue. The project involves the installation of approximately 2,200 linear feet of stormwater pipe and will include curb and gutter, sidewalk, driveway and pavement replacements as well as utility relocations.

The project is expected to cost $825,000, funded through the $1/4-cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax and Level Property Tax. Project completion is anticipated in the fall.
