In the last seven days, 5,715 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered among Greene County residents 12 and older. This is a small decrease of 8% from the previous week.
Currently, nearly 42% of residents 12 and older have been fully vaccinated. Although this percentage continues to rise weekly, 58% of individuals eligible to receive vaccine have not yet been vaccinated.
“Hospitals are inundated with COVID-19 patients who haven’t been fully vaccinated and sadly, many people are not making it out and survivors often face a long road to recovery,” said Director of Health Katie Towns. “One of our top priorities is to educate and inform individuals of the health risks unvaccinated individuals face.”
When deciding whether to get the vaccine, it’s important to seek information from reliable sources. To combat vaccine misinformation and address common hesitancies, the Health Department has developed a webpage that dispels myths and provides factual information from trusted resources. It can be found at health.springfieldmo.gov/vaccinefacts
