The Springfield-Greene County Health Department is offering two opportunities this week for vaccinated individuals who are immunocompromised to receive a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Individuals who received two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine and meet the criteria outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention can get a third dose of the vaccine on Wednesday, Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. or Friday, Aug. 27 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Westside Clinic located at 660 S. Scenic in Springfield. Appointments are required and can be made by visiting vaccine417.com or calling 417-874-1211.
According to the CDC, people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised are especially vulnerable to COVID-19 and may not build the same level of immunity to the 2-dose vaccine series compared to those who are not immunocompromised.
