[ARCHIVED] Health Department offers multiple opportunities for first and second dose of vaccine

Earlier this week the Springfield-Greene County announced that nearly 11,000 individuals are overdue for their second shot of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. While 54.9% of individuals have initiated vaccine only 49.8% are fully vaccinated. Those overdue for their second dose may help us cross the threshold to 50% fully vaccinated. 

The Health Department and other community partners have many opportunities to initiate or complete their vaccine. See below for a list of options for the week of September 27 - October 2:

Monday, September 27

  • AcomañArte (SGCHD) -- 1530 S Glenstone Ave from 5 pm – 7 pm. Vaccine offered: Pfizer (ages 12+) or Johnson & Johnson (ages 18+)

Tuesday, September 28

  • The Field (SGCHD) -- 1654 S Marion from 3 pm   – 5 pm. Vaccine offered: Pfizer (ages 12+)

Wednesday, September 29

  • Westside Health Department (SGCHD) – 660 S. Scenic from 10 am – 2 pm.  Vaccine offered: Pfizer (ages 12+), Moderna (ages 18+), or Johnson & Johnson (ages 18+)
  • South Street Christian Church (JVCHC) - 500 South Ave from 9 am – 11 am. Vaccine offered: Pfizer (ages 12+), Moderna (ages 18+), or Johnson & Johnson (ages 18+)

Thursday, September 30

  • Seasons Three (SGCHD) –  1571 E Erie St from 3 pm – 5 pm. Vaccine offered: Pfizer (ages 12+) 
  • Iglesia Mana Del Cielo (SGCHD) -- 665 N. La Fontaine Ave from 5 pm – 7 pm. Pfizer (ages 12+) or Johnson & Johnson (ages 18+)

Friday, October 1

  • Westside Health Department (SGCHD) – 660 S. Scenic from 10 am – 2 pm.  Vaccine offered: Pfizer (ages 12+), Moderna (ages 18+), or Johnson & Johnson (ages 18+)

Saturday, October 2

  • Asbury United Methodist Church (JVCHC) – 1500 S Campbell from 10 am – 12 pm. Vaccine offered: Pfizer (ages 12+), Moderna (ages 18+) or Johnson & Johnson (ages 18+)
  • Rutledge Wilson Harvest Fest (SGCHD) -- 3825 W Farm Rd 146 from 2 pm- 4 pm. Vaccine offered: Pfizer (ages 12+), Moderna (ages 18+) or Johnson & Johnson (ages 18+)
  • Bois D’Arc United Methodist Church (JVCHC) - 10463 W State Highway T Bois D'Arc from 10:30 am – 1 pm. Vaccine offered: Pfizer (ages 12+), Moderna (ages 18+) or Johnson & Johnson (ages 18+)

These opportunities are in addition to the recurring vaccination clinics at Jordan Valley Community Health Center’s Tampa Clinic at 440 E. Tampa. Jordan Valley is offering walk-in vaccinations for Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson Monday – Friday from 8 am – 3 pm, with extended hours on Tuesday from 8 am – 6 pm. COVID-19 vaccines are also available by appointment or walk-in through CoxHealth and Mercy Hospital Springfield.

A map and calendar of vaccination events is available at vaccine417.com. If you are not able to attend a public vaccination event or are wanting to be vaccinated in a more private setting, please call our COVID-19 Call Center at 417-874-1211 for more information. 

Individuals who are not able to leave their home and are seeking homebound vaccination appointments may fill out our Homebound Vaccine form. 

Although pre-registration is not required, individuals may make an appointment for a vaccine clinic at vaccine417.com

Along with providing first and second doses of vaccine, the Health Department is also offering third doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines to certain immunocompromised individuals. Qualified individuals may obtain a third dose at any clinic listed at vaccine417.com or by calling the COVID-19 Call Center at 417-874-1211.CoxHealthMercy Springfield and Jordan Valley Community Health Center are also offering third doses for moderately to severely immunocompromised individuals.

On Thursday, the CDC approved booster shots for those 65 and older and some high risk individuals. While we await final approval and further clarification from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services on who is eligible, the Springfield-Greene County Health Department is actively working on a plan to offer boosters. We will share these details once they are available. In the meantime, if you have questions about whether a booster is recommended for you, you are encouraged to contact your personal physician.
