FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The City of Springfield expects to conduct roadway resurfacing in the Rountree Neighborhood area beginning 7 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10 through Friday, Nov. 12. Resurfacing work will impact driving lanes and on-street parking stalls.
Resurfacing will be completed on the following roadway segments:
- Cherry Street between Fremont Avenue and Weller Avenue
- Elm Street between Kickapoo Avenue and Weller Avenue
- Fremont Avenue between Cherry Street and Madison Street
- Pickwick Avenue between Elm Street and Monroe Street
The public can expect single-lane closures along the roadway, with a flagger posted to maintain two-way traffic around the work zone. Periodic full lane closures may be necessary. The City will place "no parking" signs at least 48 hours in advance of any on-street parking closures. Between asphalt milling and overlay steps, the roadway surface will be rough, but driveable. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through the work zones.
General contractor APAC will complete the resurfacing project, funded through the Major Street Resurfacing and Rehabilitation program of the voter-approved ¼-cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax.
