TONIGHT: Forward SGF Speaker Series continues with panel on trends in housing choice

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Join the City of Springfield and Forward SGF Comprehensive Plan consultants John Houseal and Brandon Nolin, along with a panel of local housing experts, at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 15 for “Transforming Our Community: Trends That Influence Housing Choice and Where to Live,” a discussion of national housing trends what that means for housing choice in Springfield. The event is the third in the Forward SGF Speaker Series. 

The panel will include Debbie Shantz Hart of DHTC Development/Housing Plus, Laurel Bryant of Murney Associates and Cameron LaBarr, GDL Enterprises/ Everett Homes.

The discussion will highlight the demographic and housing trends facing communities like Springfield, how those trends are playing out locally and emerging housing strategies and ways of thinking about residential development. 

The event will kick off with a short presentation on national planning and housing trends by Houseal Lavigne principal and co-founder John Houseal, who has more than 25 years of community planning, urban design, and economic development-related experience. Following Houseal’s presentation, Planning and Development Director Mary Lilly Smith will facilitate a panel of local experts who will discuss how national trends are manifesting in the Springfield housing market and impacting new development. 

The Forward SGF Comprehensive Plan is a blueprint to guide land use, housing, economic development, transportation, parks, and more for the City of Springfield.
