Department of Workforce Development Hosts Employer Forum on Untapped Talent
The City’s Department of Workforce Development is hosting an employer forum on the benefits of working with the justice involved through the APPLIE Pathway grant. The event is set for Tuesday, May 10, 8:30 am, at the Missouri Job Center, 2900 E. Sunshine in Springfield.
“The Discovering an Untapped Talent forum will give information to area employers about hiring and working with the justice involved as they return to the workforce,” said Jennifer Biri, Business Service Representative for the APPLIE Pathway grant project. “In light of the shortage of qualified applicants, we will discus how employers can view this pool of applicants for the skills they bring to the table and not their past actions,” she added.
Employers who hire the justice involved through this program are eligible for wage reimbursement of up to 1,040 hours of service. More than 60 employers have already registered for this free event. If your company or organization would like to attend, email Jennifer at [email protected].
