This week’s COVID-19 public vaccination opportunities: October 17-22

COVID-19 News

COVID-19 cases are remaining steady as respiratory illness season begins. The 7-day rolling average of cases now stand at 27 as of Oct. 13.  Hospitalizations have gone up with 39 individuals hospitalized in Greene County hospitals as of Oct. 13.

While COVID-19 cases are expected to rise during respiratory illness season, it’s important to lower your risk of severe health issues by getting vaccinated against both COVID-19 and influenza.

The Health Department announced last week it will also be offering flu vaccines to underinsured or uninsured adults at some of its COVID-19 clinics which can be found below. It is considered safe to receive both the flu vaccine and COVID-19 vaccine in or around the same time period.

The Health Department encourages everyone to get their COVID-19 primary series and updated booster to help prevent severe illness and hospitalization from COVID-19 and take precautions to avoid the spread of the virus, like staying home when sick and getting tested if you are showing COVID-19 symptoms.

Individuals who receive a primary (first or second) dose of the COVID-19 vaccine or their first booster shot at a Health Department clinic will receive a $50 gift card while supplies last.
