Property owners invited to learn about proposed Grant Avenue Parkway Redevelopment Plan Sept. 29

The City of Springfield will host an informational open house regarding the proposed Grant Avenue Parkway Redevelopment Plan 4:30 – 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Forward SGF Planning Studio (351 N. Boonville Ave.).

Planning consultants with PGAV have completed a draft Redevelopment Plan outlining economic development and neighborhood revitalization resources along a portion of the Grant Avenue Parkway improvement corridor located north of Fassnight Park. The proposed redevelopment area encompasses an area that is generally bounded by Olive Street to the north, Catalpa Street to the South, Campbell Avenue to the east and Douglas Avenue to the west.

The goals of the plan are to provide financial assistance programs to support economic development and neighborhood revitalization along the Grant Avenue Parkway corridor and into the surrounding neighborhoods.

“Neighborhood revitalization and economic development tools are vital as we work alongside the upcoming roadway improvement construction to transform this corridor,” explains Economic Vitality Director Amanda Ohlensehlen. “This Redevelopment Plan will coordinate with the previously established Grant Avenue Corridor Plan to help support the type of development and revitalization envisioned by the community through this project.”

What to Expect:

  • Economic Vitality Department and PGAV staff will be present to discuss specific properties and how owners and developers can participate in available programs.
  • Brief staff presentation at 5:30 p.m.
  • Virtual option to view information from the meeting and ask questions. Visit
