Springfield Art Museum response to COVID-19
In response to new public health recommendations and an abundance of caution, the Springfield Art Museum will temporarily close to the public beginning Wednesday, March 18 for 14 days. The Museum will reassess the status of public operations on April 1. This temporary closure is a further attempt to assist in efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
As a department of the City of Springfield, Missouri, The Museum has been closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) reports on COVID-19 and following recommendations from City leadership, the Springfield-Greene County Health Department, and the state of Missouri. Current recommendations include canceling or postponing all events with attendance over 10 people for the next 14 days.
All public programs and events remain cancelled until May 11. We will continue to monitor the situation daily and make additional refinements to our disease prevention procedures as necessary. Museum staff will continue to report for work and security and climate systems remain in operation.
The Museum appreciates our patrons’ continued patience and understanding as we navigate quickly changing public service operating guidelines during this unprecedented public health crisis.
