Fassnight Stormwater Improvement Project Update
March 3, 2021
The Fassnight Stormwater Improvement Project at the Springfield Art Museum is nearing the start of construction. The City of Springfield has contracted with local construction company Hartman & Company and has granted approval for them to proceed beginning March 15.
The City project team is working alongside Hartman to determine a timeline for construction and discuss possible impacts to traffic as construction activities begin to mobilize. These details will be shared with you as soon as they are outlined with the contractor.
Several neighbors may have noticed sewer work taking place in the area this week. A city contractor is conducting sanitary sewer pipe lining in preparation for construction beginning on the stormwater project. This is preventative maintenance that will help make sure wastewater service in the neighborhood isn't affected by the upcoming project construction.
Also this week, City arborist crews are working to relocate the sycamore tree located on the southwest part of the Art Museum grounds. Crews will use an airspade to remove dirt from the root system, then move it to the northeast side of Museum property where it will be replanted.
Thank you for your interest in this project and patience as the construction process begins!
