Fassnight Stormwater Improvement Project Update
April 21, 2021
The sanitary sewer main relocation work is now complete and Hartman & Co. has resumed excavation work in the channel.
Crews will be stockpiling aggregate and stone materials this week, including large limestone riprap and smaller native gravels. These stone materials will be used to naturalize and stabilize Fassnight Creek as construction continues.
Also this week, weather permitting, Hartman will begin preparing for the installation of pedestrian bridge piers. There will be some isolated excavations later in the week at the east and west pedestrian bridge locations to prepare for abutment and pier installations. Drill rigs for the piers are anticipated to be onsite the first week of May. As a reminder, the channel excavation is at an interim state of completion and there will be truck traffic hauling soils in the coming weeks.
During this phase of construction, the existing concrete channel will be left intact to allow for the creek to continue to flow, undisturbed, through the active construction zone. Following completion of this phase, the concrete channel will also be demolished to allow for additional grading on the south side of the channel.
