Call For Entry: Watercolor USA 2018

Deadline to apply: March 6, 2018

The Museum is seeking submissions for Watercolor USA 2018. The 57th annual juried exhibition of the very best in contemporary American watermedia is scheduled for June 2 - August 26, 2018. This exhibition is open to artists from all 50 states and U.S. territories and will be judged by Kelly Kane, former Editor-in-Chief of Watercolor Artist magazine, and current Editor of PleinAir Magazine. Approximately $20,000 in cash and possible Museum purchase awards are available. Artists whose work pushes the boundaries of traditional aqueous media are encouraged to enter. Wonder Rooms Closes Feb. 11

This is your final chance to view selections from the private collections of 10 local art collectors. Arranged in "rooms," this exhibit features over 200 works of art in a wide range of media including ceramics, photography, outsider art, local art, furniture, prints, and drawings. Wonder Rooms examines the human desire to collect, with a specific focus on private collections in Southwest Missouri, in order to discover the underlying stories and driving impulses behind collecting.

Chamber Music Concert Inspired by Works of Grant Wood

Please join St. Mark's Square for an intimate afternoon of chamber music inspired by our current special exhibition, Grant Wood: Lithographs. St. Mark’s Square is a string quartet featuring permanent chair musicians of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. The members of St. Mark’s have performed around the world, from Broadway to Carnegie Hall, to concert stages abroad. The ensemble will be performing a gallery concert featuring music from Antonín Dvorák, George Gershwin, and Leonard Bernstein. Due to generous grant funding from the Springfield Regional Arts Council, through The Community Foundation of the Ozarks Arts & Culture fund donors, this concert series is free and open to the public. In-gallery seating is limited.

Free Pre-K Open Studio Sessions continue in 2018 thanks to ongoing generous grant funding from The Jeannette L. Musgrave Foundation. Bring your littlest artist to the Museum for some hands-on fun. This program helps build creativity and school readiness. You and your child can make your mark using a variety of tools and materials in an exploratory open-studio setting. These sessions are designed for kids ages 3-5 with a caregiver. Classes are free and open to the public; registration is required.

Art In Bloom Save The Date

Call For Floral Designers: Art In Bloom 2018

Deadline to apply: February 23, 2018


The Museum is seeking floral designers from throughout the region to imaginatively interpret works of art on view in our galleries in our newest signature event, Art In Bloom (April 27-29, 2018), celebrating fine art and fantastic floral displays. Art In Bloom features prize categories for featured florists including a $1,000 cash award for "Best In Show" and two $500 cash awards for "Best Creative Arrangement" and "Best Classical Arrangement," respectively. Interested designers should visit our event website and complete an intention to participate form. You will be contacted shortly with specifications and to arrange selection of your inspiration art work.

*Save The Date for Art In Bloom 2018, a three-day festival including, an incredible opening night soiree - with complimentary beverages, small bites, live music, and a nature-inspired runway show - floral arranging workshops, mixed-media painting activities, and more!
