.Join us for the 57th annual showing of Watercolor USA, celebrating the best in contemporary American watermedia. This year's exhibit features 82 works from 81 artists representing 31 states, as selected by juror Kelly Kane, Editor-In-Chief on PleinAir Magazine. Realism, Traditional, and Innovation - it's all on view in Watercolor USA. This popular exhibition and Springfield summertime staple features a catalog on sale in Avant Art for $15.

Watercolor USA 2018 opens with a reception on Friday, June 1 at 5:30 PM, generously sponsored by the Southwest Missouri Museum Associates (SMMA), who have long provided support for Watercolor USA. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.

Please join St. Mark's2 (St. Mark's Square) for an intimate afternoon of chamber music inspired by the special exhibition, Watercolor USASt. Mark’s2 features permanent chair musicians of the Springfield Symphony OrchestraDue to generous grant funding from the Springfield Regional Arts Council, through Community

Join the Springfield-Greene County Library District at the Museum as they present "Fantastic Fridays!" Browse the latest exhibits, engage in art-making, storytelling, writing activities, watch Steve the Painting Pig in action (courtesy of Friends of the Springfield Art Museum), experience virtual reality with Self Interactive, and listen to a Storybreak with KY3 Ozarks Today anchor Paul Adler (10:30 AM). Make sure you bring your library card because the Mobile Library will be parked in the parking lot and open for business!

Intro to Watercolor Workshop

Join instructor Kerra Taylor for this one day, four hour workshop covering fundamentals of watercolor painting, touching on materials, surface preparation, application techniques, color theory, and color mixing. Participants will complete two small still-life paintings. Register online and/or view the necessary supplies list. Materials not included.

Summer Art Camps at Springfield Art Museum

Summer Art Camps Begin June 26 

There is still time to register for a limited number of Art Camp spots! Art Camps are designed for kids ages 6 – 10, and 5 year-olds who have completed Kindergarten. All sessions run Tuesday through Friday. Half-day and full-day options are available, and sibling discounts apply.

Morning sessions run from 9 AM – Noon. Afternoon sessions run from 1 PM – 4 PM. Half-day sessions cost $65 and include 12 hours of camp (4 days), all materials, and snacks. Full-Day sessions run from 9 AM – 4 PM and cost $130, including 28 hours of camp (4 days), all materials, and snacks. Full-day campers bring a sack lunch and stay at Art Camp during the lunch hour. The Actors Theatre of Missouri in association with The Dangerous Playground and Rice Theatricals, present Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare, directed by David Rice. Those who enjoyed Hing Wah Hatch's Applied Chinese Brush Strokes ArtTalk on May 31, or those who were unable to attend, will enjoy two extended learning workshops with Hatch. She will demonstrate additional techniques, as you practice your skills with plenty of one-on-one time with the artist. Presented by Friends of the Springfield Art Museum (FOSAM) and the Studio 55 Fine Arts Guild, these workshops are free and open to the public and all materials will be provided.
