Suspect charged in shooting

On May 1, 2013 at 2:59 a.m., Springfield police officers responded to 1026 W. Norton Road in reference to a report that a man had been shot at that location. When officers arrived, they located a 31-year-old male in one of the apartments with several gunshot wounds. The male was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and is still recovering from his injuries.

During the investigation, the suspect was identified as 18-year-old Tevin Williams of Springfield. Williams was interviewed at the Greene County Jail where he was being held after an arrest on an unrelated warrant.

The Greene County Prosecutor's Office has filed charges of First Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action against Williams in reference to this shooting. He is currently being held in the Greene County Jail on a $150,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing as detectives search for other individuals who were involved.

The charge announced herein is merely an accusation, and Mr. Williams is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
